A pattern is the core of the product development process. A pattern is the blue print or template used to cut out the fabric that makes the sample. A good pattern has balance, accounts for fabric behavior and reflects your design accurately. In AR Fashion Services we use computer patternmaking software to create our patterns, which are consequently printed on paper.
Our pattern makers will work with you to create the perfect fit. With extensive experience in all facets of the fashion industry, you can feel confidant that your patterns are created accurately and professionally to save you time and money.
We provide you with creative pattern making solutions to express your designs with expertise and ensure accurate samples and problem free manufacturing. Accuracy in pattern making, grading and specifications is essential for a smooth manufacturing process. We can also deliver CAD patterns in digital format directly to offshore manufacturers and clients.
Do not hesitate to call if you are interstate or overseas. We have extensive experience with interpreting designs and communicating with interstate and overseas clients. Our team can provide you with a customized service that ensures your designs become an easy manufacturing reality.
Quality samples sell. Our team of expert sewing machinists can make them a reality.
Our business motto is to use our expertise to make your life easier. We work alongside some of the most experienced sample machinists in the industry to make the transition from pattern to sample and from sample to production accurate and smooth. Our sample machinists work alongside our patterns makers ensuring that all design elements are executed accurately and problems are solved in the first place. The direct communication between pattern maker and sample machinist is essential for quick turnaround time and beautiful samples that sell.
Accurate samples will also help manufacturers gain a comprehensive understanding of your designs and reduce your production costs.
After a pattern is made and approved you will need grading. Find out below how we can help you with your production needs.
Grading is a mystery to many people. We can guide you through the maze and help you create industry specific or custom grading charts for your range. With experience in men’s, women’s, and children’s grading, our team of experienced pattern makers checks and double checks the process to ensure accuracy. For additional accuracy and precision all computer graded patterns are printed as a nest and only when checked and approved each size is printed separately. We are also happy to work with your manual or computer patterns, grading them according your production needs. We can also deliver graded patterns in digital format directly to offshore manufacturers and clients.
Successful production needs the right preparation. Your manufacturers will love you when you give them everything they need.
To ensure all technical elements are communicated accurately, we can also provide detailed Specification Sheets. A Specification Sheet guarantees that your manufacturer has all the information he/she needs so the production process runs smoothly and information is clear to all parties involved. A specification sheet explains, among other things, construction details, stitch elements, trim requirements, color breakdowns and elastic measurement for all sizes. Be confident that your garment is accurately recorded and your manufacturer is 100% aware of all elements of your design. A detailed Specification Sheet is more than required when working with offshore manufacturers.
Furthermore, we use CAD technology to create efficient, accurate markers that calculate correct fabric usage. Mini markers are also supplied for approval before printing.

I'm new to the industry: Can ARFS help me?
We provide the technical services of pattern making, sample making, grading and specifications required to create the final package of information you need to take to your manufacturer. What that means for you, is simply bring a design idea to us and we can create all data and material a manufacturer needs to produce that idea. We can also help in design and business development. Traditionally different companies undertake these processes, so you can think of the ARFS as your one-stop shop!
Is ARFS a manufacturing company?
We are not a manufacturer. There is some confusion as to how we are different from a manufacturer; basically our job is to work with you to develop your patterns, samples and specifications before meeting a manufacturer. A manufacturer's job is to then take that pattern, sample and specification and create your bulk production (a manufacturer does not like to develop samples).
Will ARFS help me find local manufacturers?
Yes, we have many manufacturing contacts that we happily offer to our clients. However, we provide this information only when your construction, quantities and fabrics have been finalized. It is important to find the right manufacturer, as many will have minimum orders, specific machinery and specific requirements. We can also contact a manufacturer on your behalf and manage your line through the entire manufacturing process. Please contact us to discuss how we can tailor a solution to meet your needs.
Do you sell or provide fabric for my designs?
No. In ARFS we don't sell or source fabrics on behalf of our clients. However, we do offer fabric sourcing consultation. We can take you to visit reliable fabric agents and assist you in choosing the correct fabric for your designs.
Do I need to provide you with all the trims, hardware or buttons needed for my designs?
Yes, you need to provide us with all the necessary components for your designs before we can start sampling. We do not stock any types of trims and if we are required to source on your behalf, the cost of each item will be charged to your account.
How much do you charge for your services?
We cannot offer quotes, as the services we provide are different and customized according to the needs of each client. Furthermore, development is a very fluid process and many decisions are finalized during the process; a change in mind on fabrics, trims and construction can all affect the overall cost. In any case, after our first meeting we will be in position to give you a cost estimation.
I have created my own patterns; can ARFS create my samples?
Yes, we can offer sampling alone. However, if we find that your patterns are incorrect, are not well balanced, haven't accounted for fabric behavior/shrinkage, the pattern will have to be constructed from scratch from our pattern making team before we can proceed to sampling.
We don't recommend supplying your own patterns unless you are an experienced pattern maker.
What do I bring to an initial appointment?
More is more when it comes to initial consultation. Here are just some of the items to consider: reference garments, reference images, samples/toiles you have already created, trade sketches, fabric swatches for each design and customer profiles. Also make a list of any specific questions you need answered to best utilize the allotted time in your appointment.
Does ARFS provide business consulting services?
Yes we do. The owner and director of ARFS, Eleftheria Arapoglou, has over 15 years of industry experience and knows how to help designers determine who their customer is, what their design aesthetic should be, how to sell their product and where. Please contact us if you would like a business consultation today.
